Rare Air

Matthew 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Hidden within many powerful sayings in Matthew 11 is this precious gem. Did you find it or was it hidden from you? This verse points to one of the most profound scriptures in the New Testament and yet we look on both verses as a thing to be taken for granted because we understand so little in how they relate to us specifically.

Luke 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

Do you see it? No? Let me clear the air.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Do you see it? Is this plain enough? No? Then look for the rare air.

James 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Plain English please.

I desire to know God the Father thru the scriptures, but I do not know Him. I know His character, His reputation, His desire, perhaps even His will, but that is not God the Father.

I desire to know Jesus thru the scriptures but I do not know Jesus. I know His character, I know His works, I know His sacrifice, I know His truths, I know His promises, but that is not Jesus.

Having accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord of my live resulted in receiving the Holy Spirit into my heart and all that He does in me is not a result of my knowing Him.

It is because He knows me.

Season

Genesis 40:4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

First use yôwm, yome; from an unused root meaning to be hot

Exodus 13:10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

Second use môwʻêd, mo-ade’; an appointment

Leviticus 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Third use ʻêth, ayth; time

Job 30:17 My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

Fourth use layil, lah’-yil; of gloom, protective shadow

in Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Fifth use zᵉmân, zem-awn’; literally means duration, that any set time has an expiration date

Given that there are so many words that can be translated into the English language with a narrow understanding, I have chosen to study in greater depth to render a broader knowledge of the Word. This however will never be as real and meaningful as it was to the people of any certain time, place and circumstance. We do our best to relate, our hearts bent towards understanding.

These people of a certain time, place and circumstance failed God in one way or another. It is not all that much different today. If a better understanding helps me to avoid error, mistakes, sin, then the season I spend in the Word is well worth the effort.
