Enough

Acts 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

There are those who have stood upon this word of God to their own destruction. They are taught that works are enough. See here, says so right here in Acts 10:35. “I’m good to go, I’ve done enough.”

Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

People who feel like they have done enough will stop praying, stop seeking, stop growing, and continue in the way they are going.

Judges 18:5 And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

Once you start buying into false doctrine you have decided you have had enough of God and only seek things the world offers. Where will you turn when the world takes it all from you?

Jeremiah 18:17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

These never truly knew God for if they had, then they would not take the fear of the Lord so lightly. They have no true understanding of the meaning of righteousness. Good works are not righteousness and God does not accept any work He has not authored.

Luke 13:27 But He will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you’re from. Get away from Me, all you workers of unrighteousness!’ HCSB

That Jesus said to those who did works not authored by God.

Author

Hebrews 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon renders author as furnishing the first cause or occasion. It renders finisher as one who has in His own person (personally) raised faith to its perfection and so set before us the highest example of faith. It is curious that the Greek word for finisher only exists once and is used here.

Over and over again I hear good intentioned Christians proclaim “I have faith”, as if it is their creation, theirs to control, and subject to their own will. That kind of faith opposes God. That kind of faith quiets the still small voice that is given to direct our lives and bless every good word authorized by God thru the power of His will and majesty.

If you want to know why a ministry has failed, perhaps it is because it was not authored by God. Everything that God puts His hand to flourishes.

Ezekiel 34:10 Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

God will not be mocked.

Isaiah 28:22-23 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Jesus Christ is the Word and without Him your faith is vanity and will come to nothing.
