Buy a Lie

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

How many times have you thought, said or heard; “It’s just an innocent little lie.” Or “It’s a white lie.”?

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

When you speak a lie you are speaking for the devil. When you buy into a lie you follow the devil. It is a lie of the devil that there are little lies. Every flooding downpour begins with a drop here and a drop there.

James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

What about the sin of ignorance? What if you do not know the truth?

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

His devices are lies and the only combat against lies is the truth.

John 14:17,15:26,16:13  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

But

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

(BUT) I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Since we are engaged in Christ, this life we live abundantly is a life of faith. It is a life of grace. It is a life with purpose, promise, and prosperity. It is a life in the spirit.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

One of the reasons I find Romans 8:1 to be so comforting to me lies in my past. I condemned myself for the life I lived. Now Satan tries to condemn me for the life I now live in Christ. He opposes the Word of God. He casts a shadow over every good work the Lord is doing in me. They are lies, damnable lies and the only weapon Satan has against me.

“Out, damned spot! Out, I say!—One, two. Why, then, ’tis time to do ’t. Hell is murky!—Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?—Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him.” (Lady Macbeth Act 5 Scene 1 of Shakespeare’s Macbeth)

I quote the whole of the line for one special reason. While conscience is piercing at our souls for the sins committed, this line appears. What do I have to fear when the power of the blood cannot be held accountable? The price has already been paid, that sin is forgiven. The lie of the enemy is that I have wounded my Lord again.
