Go

Isaiah 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Sounds good, sounds right, let us go to the mountain of the Lord. Before you pack your bags, allow me to point out one minor flaw in that plan.

Isaiah 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

These are not the last days and the Lord has not taken up residence in the mountain of the Lord. Granted it seems like these are the last days to those who have not understood the proper order of the prophetic history of our future. Prophesy is scattered throughout the bible and it has order, even if it seems chaotic. It seems that way if you read into it what you want to get out of it.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The classic example of wishful thinking prophesy is this verse. I’m ready, its time, come Jesus come. Where do you stand in the prophetic history of the bible? The church age is the greatest mystery in the bible. Even Jesus did not know when that time would come.

Matthew 24:35-36 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

131 Again

Psalm 131:1 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

I return once again to this shortest of psalms to point out maturity. Anyone who can say 131:1 of a truth is a mature Christian. These are believer who know who they are Christ and know how they got there.

Ezra 9:11 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

We are allowed to come boldly to the throne of grace because we know who we are in Christ and have not stepped out of place. Verse 131:1 confirms this in referring to not exercising self in matters that are beyond us. Knowing our place in Christ allows us to exercise faith according to the will of God, not will of self.

Psalms 24:3-4 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

It is tempting to lift up ones soul to vanity, knowing what we know and Who we know. Knowing this is not an exercise in promotion. It is a privilege given to us to witness Christ to others.

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
