John 14:6a Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
Jesus is the answer to every problem. What’s the problem?
Romans 7:16 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. ESV
Even having the desire to do what is right does not guarantee that we will do what is right. That is complicated. Our whole life up until this one point of accepting the gospel has been built around self-will, self-determination, and execution of will. We are taught to be self-reliant, strong, determined and successful. Now, because of this simple gospel, we must learn how to rely on God for everything.
Psalm 86:11a Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth:
Remember Jesus is the Way and the Truth. To know the way and to walk in truth is much more complicated than the simple Gospel and we cannot do it ourselves. Lord help us, how can we do this impossible task?
Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Once again we are presented with a simple answer to a complex problem. Walk in the Spirit to fulfill the righteousness we cannot determine for ourselves. It is that simple.
Is it really that simple?
