Psalm 6:2-6 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long? Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Can you relate to the raw emotions of these verses? I can and I suspect I am not alone in this. We do not turn to our Savior because all is right with our souls. We turn to Christ for our own personal reasons but the need for comforting is the same.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

While this is true the reality by experience isn’t immediate. If you fall into a cesspool being rescued is one of the joys of being saved and washed. You don’t emerge thinking about anything except the relief of that situation. What that means is apparently obvious to the situation, change happens but only the relief in rescue is on your mind.

You are a new creature, but you are still a creature. You’re a creature of habit. What is going to change your habits? A conscious decision has to be made to drop bad habits. The ability to recognize bad habits isn’t instinctual. Some are obvious, others are not.

Becoming the new creature takes a bit of discipline on your part. Hence the term disciple. You have to learn a new way of thinking.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

To prove this, one must do it.

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

I ended my posts on WWW with the question “do I need to know all this to be saved?” The answer is a resounding no. So why do I need all the details of so many names, characters, places, histories and events within my bible studies? Why can’t I just read the New Testament and be done with it?

The New Testament is more than just personal salvation. It is more than service to a God we can never thank enough. It is more than evangelizing and spreading the gospel. It is a deeply personal intimate relationship with our God and in doing so, we ought to love what He loves.

Ephesians 1:4-6 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

We are accepted into the body of Christ, His betrothed, the Bride. As such, being accepted, we should be mindful of this new family and its members. As newborns we are encouraged to grow. We have others to show us love, grace, mercy and instruction. As we grow and mature we in like kind turn to the novice and do for them as it was done for us.

You will find every type of novice within the bible. There is nothing new under the sun and to assist these newborns best it is easier to relate to their change of life if you understand the WWW of the bible. All that they have come out of into this new life is written there.

All newborns want to be understood.
