Exodus 3:2-4 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
What did God do to get your attention?
Here Moses noticed the messengers signal. Angels are messengers, it is part of their job to post a notice that God is seeking an audience with us mere mortals. I will admit that this signal was extraordinary and unusual. I would not say wait for a burning bush but we all have one of those burning bush moments in our lives. Most are not that spectacular.
Tomorrow I will share my burning bush moment, my first contact. For now I would like to point out the process listed above.
First came the sign. Secondly the awareness. Thirdly the turning aside. Fourth God recognizes you are seeking answers. Finally God makes contact.
Signs are not always obvious. I didn’t understand this order back during my first contact. If I had I might have recognized what was happening. It happened back in the early 60’s so sorting it all out takes some prayerful meditation and a good deal of truth being seen thru His eyes and not my own. He knew what He was doing, I did not.
Circumstances led Moses to be a shepherd over the flocks of Median that day. Circumstances lead each of us to a point in our lives that defines our divine appointment. The tale of first contact begins with a personal history lesson. None of us come to this point in our lives without history.
