Changelings

2 Corinthians 3:18 English Standard Version (ESV) And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[reflecting the glory of the Lord] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[from glory to glory] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Spending time with new believers and getting to know them gives us an opportunity to see them change. They may not even be aware of it themselves. As their former lives fade and the new life in Christ appears it is encouraging to know their salvation is real and the work of the Lord is alive in them.

Over the years we may also wake up to the knowledge that we ourselves have changed without a complete understanding of just how it happened. This come from the Lord who is Spirit. As was said yesterday, He is Lord and has not relinquished authority over us. Being gentle and kind some changes are initiated without our involvement. Other things need to be changed by repentance. Our actions are a reflection on Him and when our behaviors reflect badly on Him, then discipline is required.

Hebrews 12:11 English Standard Version (ESV) For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

It might seem like a great mystery as to how we are changed without our understanding but it might be just as simple as spending quality time with God in His Word. Even the oldest and most transformed among us spend time reading their bibles with a loving respect.  It is a good habit developed over decades of a loving relationship with God.

We tend to do what we love.

Christ in Us

Colossians 1:27 English Standard Version (ESV) To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

How do we explain a mystery we ourselves have not fully realized? Christ in us, the hope of glory, is the manifestations of Christ, the essence of who Christ is in Truth. He has given of Himself. He has given us His Spirit who tells us all the things Christ has said.

Try to think of Him as the Great Physician for a moment. First do no harm. He loves us, is gentle, kind, and understanding and knows us better than we know ourselves. He is not going to scream at us from His dwelling place. He knows how to talk to each of us in a way that we both understand He is speaking and are able to accept and believe in our hearts.

We are all experienced in different ways with minds that are very busy. Our minds are full of memories, we are emotional people, and we have cares and concerns. Those things can outshout that quiet voice in our inner being. It is not that we intend to shut God out, it is something we have to learn to control in order to hear Him clearly.

We are asked to come to Him early. In one sense it is a time of first reflection, reading His Word, meditating, quieting ourselves and listening. In another sense it is coming to Him before the troubles of each day come upon us. Each day presents itself with new challenges and troubling ourselves with those things before we set aside a time to spend time with God makes hearing more difficult.

Luckily for us Christ is faithful to perform the will of God the Father even if we are not aware of it. He is God in us and has not relinquished His authority over us. He would prefer we listen and obey. This too is a mystery to be revealed.
