Ears to Hear

Isaiah 32:2-4 English Standard Version

2 Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land.

3 Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed, and the ears of those who hear will give attention.

4 The heart of the hasty will understand and know, and the tongue of the stammerers will hasten to speak distinctly.

Let those who have ears hear. Amen

Do you hear the Spirit speaking to you?

If not, do you want to hear the Spirit?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Look at the healing ministries of Jesus before the Cross. The deaf could Hear. The mute could speak. The blind could see. The lame walks. The dead rose up. The leper was made clean.

After the Cross those who have placed their faith in Christ have received the Holy Spirit.

They can hear in the Spirit. They can see in the Spirit. They can speak in the Spirit. They walk by the Spirit. They are quickened by the Spirit. Once shunned for being untouchable they now have fellowship with the saints in the Spirit.

All this is made possible because faith in Christ is faith released in those who have received the Holy Spirit. Everything they do in the Spirit is by faith in Jesus Christ.

We all had a life that tried and failed. We may or may not feel like we failed, but we truly did because we did so without faith.

It is impossible to please God without faith.

This post began with chapter and verse.

Things have been said that will stir up the faith in some to know the scriptural references. Some will have a vague memory, others will know chapter and verse. Hearing with those spiritual ears takes practice. It is not unlike learning a foreign language. The more one uses it, the better they get at it.

Saving Faith

Ephesians 2:8 English Standard Version (ESV) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Is it really that simple?

Grace is unmerited favor, That means it is a free offer void of any consequences in accepting the offer of salvation through faith. Apart from faith salvation is impossible.

Jesus said to us “I am the Way.”

That does not mean we will find salvation by living our life as the man Jesus Christ lived His. He was sent by Father God to be the atonement for all sin.

We were not born again in the Spirit to be an atonement for anyone’s sin. We are a witness to Father God’s great mercy in the face of unimaginable sin. The worst sin can be forgiven. We need to stop seeing sin as a scale of worth.

Romans 3:10-11 English Standard Version (ESV) as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands no one seeks for God.”

What changed when we accepted Christ by faith? The Holy Spirit was given so that we will have understanding, and we will have the desire to seek God.

What didn’t change is our righteousness.

Philippians 3:8-10 English Standard Version

8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,

To be found in Him, in His righteousness, not our own, is found in being like Him in His death.

Dead men don’t sin.

Romans 6:3 English Standard Version (ESV) Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Let those who have ears, let them hear. Amen
