Inevitable

Revelation 3:8 I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

These are the words to the church in Philadelphia, and no, not the one in Pennsylvania. These words from Revelations to the churches are meant for all of us about present day attitudes and attributes. What has been set in motion cannot be changed, His Word will accomplish His will.

  • Isaiah 46:10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
  • Isaiah 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

It amazes me that some can conceive and believe in multiverses and yet cannot accept the eternal realm of God. That realm is a finished work, all that has not yet been done is finished in God’s eternal realm. It cannot be changed.

  • Genesis 2:1
    The Seventh Day, God Rests
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
  • Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.
  • Genesis 2:3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

Since this is true, and it matters not if you take my word for it, God said so, why do we even try?

Which sounds better to you who believe?

Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Psalm 95:11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.”

I am comforted in His words, “You have been faithful over a little.” He did not say much or everything, but the little I did do was enough to enter into His rest.

I preach the gospel to many and if only a few come to believe, that is better than none.

Salvation

Genesis 3:10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”

God told Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam disobeyed the one and only command given by God where He said don’t. This is the result of disobedience, fear, vulnerability, and separation.

These are the attributes of all mankind that comes with birth because of original sin. This is what God wants to undo by faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Restoration begins in reverse order, the last becoming the first.

First on the list is restoration of relations with God where we do not have to hide our faces from our God.

Second is losing the sense of vulnerability, that God loves us and wants to protect us.

Third we stop being afraid of our past sins and accept that we can begin again,

Fourth and last because it is the most difficult is obedience.

  • Luke 1:35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.
  • John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
  • John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
  • John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

I include Luke 1:35 because when we are born again the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. In John 3:8 we can see that the Spirit comes and goes where it wills, being the third person of the Trinity of God. The power belongs to the Most High, we are not in control of that power.

Having free will is a demonstration of God’s love and trust He has placed in us by faith. Choose to obey and demonstrate to God that His love is doing what He set out to do in conforming us into the image of the Son. Disobey and expect correction, not punishment.

Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
