Road Builder

Psalm 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

There is an enormous amount of planning, finance, destruction and construction in building roads. In this I see the efforts of man in trying to follow the way. The Way as in “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”. For some it is logical and work worthy of effort. They strive to perform. They plan carefully and devote personal resources to the effort, even making sacrifices to achieve their goal.

It would be devastating to do all that hard work and come to the end of the road only to find that it led to nothing. The road to nowhere was constructed in Alaska by a government that valued the effort and use of resources more than the destination. That road really exists. In this sense building the way is the same thing as building a road that leads nowhere.

The Way already exists, you do not have to destroy anything to build it.

John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

God’s judgment already exist. Choosing the Way is to stand on that which already exists and not choosing for ourselves, but rather standing on what God has already established.

Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Washing pots and cups is work but it doesn’t get you out of the kitchen. It leads nowhere. It is Martha in the kitchen while Mary sits at the feet of Jesus.

Luke 10:41-42 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
