In Order

John1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Here we have order. The Word, Jesus Christ is the Word become flesh, the express image of God, His Glory. Secondly, we have the expression of grace, all that He is and does by virtue in unmerited favor. Then there is truth.

I cannot express every aspect of God’s grace in our lives. I can only recognize just a few of those gracious moments in my own life. I am sure there are many more than have been performed on my behalf that I am not aware of as yet. I may never know them all. If I were to list all the possibilities it would take a lifetime of growth in Christ and since we are here to grow in Christ, let us push on.

Truth! What is truth? If you know anything about me by now, you can see that I will not settle for those worldly definitions and expressions of truth. If you look to dictionaries for definitions of truth you will find in some of them the admission that truth is a perception. Worldly men only believe what they perceive and for them that truth.

Is the sky blue? Many will agree, yes, the sky is blue. The truth is a little more complex. This only goes to demonstrate objective truths. Objective truths are only understood to the extent of observation and analysis we can conclude that a consensus is drawn. Truth by committee.

Allow me to define truth to you in my understanding. You may not accept it. Truth stands alone and unchanged by human perception or acceptance. We do err when we add adjectives to truth, like objective and absolute. Those are concept words which we have chosen to explain our limitations and intolerance. They are the basic illusions of perception.

Some things are not simple.

  1. Truth is that which applies to all people in all places at all times. It is invariable.
