1 Peter 4:18 Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” NKJV
Other translation render scarcely as with difficulty and barely. I find within certain circles an attitude of reluctance. Why try? If all that I try might not get me in, why should I even bother?
Allow me to ask this then, who is the righteous one? If we are told and rightly so, that all of our own righteousness is not good enough for God’s demand for justice, what chance do we have? One and only one chance.
Jesus Christ is the Righteousness of God in human form. He is the sacrifice without spot. Jesus Christ is the Righteous One and He with great difficulty was barely saved. Do you think it was easy for God to place all the sins of mankind upon His innocent Son and allow Him to be our sacrifice? I think not.
Apart from Christ, not being in Christ, what chance does anyone stand in being saved? None.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
If you are in Christ, you need to get it out of your head that obedience of faith is about you. That issue was settled when Christ rose from the grave. The answer about where the ungodly and sinners will appear is right before your eyes. Your obedience of faith is all about glorifying God, delivering the gospel, and being ministers of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
