John 14:22-23 English Standard Version
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 English Standard Version
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
This Word is true and yet we do not seem satisfied. We anticipate a final solution and we look to the prophecies to be fulfilled in order to be satisfied that His Second Coming is imminent.
Are we so tired of this life that we cannot enjoy His presence in the here and now?
The work of the Lord is an ongoing process and it will continue until the Father says it is done.
We are the work of the Lord and have been since we accepted His Lordship by faith. That will continue until we die or He calls us out.
Perhaps that is what some yearn for more so than His Second Coming.
Death has caught us up in Christ. All that came before us and they have gone on before us to be with the Lord. Are we so afraid of death that we would rather be snatched up alive to join Him in the clouds?
I cannot answer that question for others. I’ve been shot and I know pain. Death does not frighten me, pain does.
What frightens me more than that is missing one more opportunity to hear His call to duty and have one more task to serve my God. Each call to duty is one less thing that has to be done to bring His Second Coming into being, whatever that might look like.
I am not done. Not yet.
