Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
We know the dispersion nature of yeast. We know the dispersion nature of sin. What we do not often think about is mother dough. Really good yeast comes from a single source that is cultivated and is an old source. Some mother dough is handed down, outlasting the original starter.
Small portions of mother dough are broken off to feed many batches to bake many loaves of bread. The original dough is then fed and nurtured to continue the process. Such is the nature of the most obvious sin. Heroin and cocaine are no accident. Pornography is very intentional. The boldness of these addictions is so flagrantly in your face that they do not fear any opponent. Drug wars haven’t worked and porn is now legal in most places.
The cure for these sins is found one victim at a time. Many are being helped, but the lost outweigh the saved. Such is the nature of sin and salvation. The lost are saved one soul at a time. It is an individual choice. The cure is singular.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Genesis 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
The oldest reference to wine is noted here that Noah used wine. Historically it has been found that Egyptians have used yeast for over five thousand years. Egypt is also credited with inventing beer. Both beer and wine use yeast in the fermenting process.
What a marvelous choice in scripture has been made to align sin with yeast. Here we see yeast used to produce a product that loosens the clothing. Noah’s uncovering is an indication of vulnerability. Those in a drunken state are freed of their inhibitions and more vulnerable to sin.
The leading cause of homelessness in America is alcohol. It has led to loss of jobs, home and family. It is not the beer and wine that has caused this epidemic. Sin is the cause and yeast is nothing more than a production element. Many good men and women partake of beer and wine without being caught up in the addiction. Sin has not infected them as it has others.
1 Timothy 5:22-23 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
