Not Sure

1 Kings 19:11-12 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

We have been talking this month about God communicating with His creation. Have you heard the Lord this month or are you not sure? I will for the purposes of speaking to you once again about hearing faith, that you have accepted Christ as your Lord. If you have not, this will not apply.

God does not scream at us. He is kind, He is merciful, He is loving and screaming isn’t in His nature. If you remember I spoke to you about hearing with the new heart condition. Did you expect God to speak into your ear? Did you expect God to appear before your eyes? Look at the example set before us with Elijah in 1st Kings. A still small voice is hard to hear if you are not still yourself. We busy ourselves with all kinds of responsibilities and entertainment.

Do you get yourself to that prayer closet? (Matthew 6:6) Have you shut out all the distractions of your world to listen in utter silence?  Quiet even you own mind and listen with your heart. When you are alone and you hear that voice behind you, you know it cannot be anyone else if no one else is there.

I asked a doctor of theology about Isaiah 30:21 and he said the common mistake people make in relating to that verse is that you have to already be on the move (obedience of faith) to hear Him tell you left or right.

Hearing Loss

Luke 16:1-3 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

I do not know if you have heard faith. If you have not we will address that before moving on to another topic. If you have and seemed to have lost your hearing, allow me to address the issue of hearing loss.

Having come to Christ we all are given a stewardship in His Kingdom. We have all received gifts which we should call “His goods”. We have been given the goods to perform that which is asked of us in stewardship. We should be aware that failure in stewardship can result in loss of position. If we fail to follow directions, He will call upon another to serve His will. If you are consistent in failing to obey His commands, why should you expect to receive further instruction?

Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

What causes us to stop hearing God by faith? Being unfaithful perhaps? How about if you stop listening, have turned a deaf ear to the Lord? Is there any difference between the two? How about sin? Have you placed sin once again between you and our Holy God?

Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Have you become too familiar with God and lost that fearful reverence?
