Helpmate

Genesis 2:18b It is not good that the man should be alone;

Let me state right here, right up front, I am never alone. The Lord is with me. The problem for me is much as it was for Adam in those early days. God gave Adam responsibility and authority and walked with Adam every day. It is only within the realm of my understanding my relationship with God that I connect in any way as to what God and Adam talked about.

There is nothing that makes me so aware of who I am as being in His presence. He is God, I am not. As much as I would like to know what it is to be God, I cannot. God came in the Christ Jesus to experience all that man is in this world. He knows what I feel because of that. It isn’t just temptation, He took on my sins, so He knows from that how it feels to fail, even though He never failed the Father.

I know this to be true. Feeling it is another matter. Having all confidence in your beliefs do not always translate into the emotional aspect of being human. This is where a helpmate has the most influence in relationship. They feel what you feel. Not the perfect understanding, not the perfect answer, not the perfect solution, they feel your imperfection.

Paul was not given in marriage and he said that he wished that all men could be as he was, satisfied. Well I’m not Paul either. I have the Holy Spirit for the spiritual stuff, I have a helpmate for the rest. But what good does that helpmate do for you if you do not allow them to help?

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

One meaning of cleave is adhere, as adhesive, which is likened to a root meaning to cook, a blending of elements under heat to mix thoroughly.

Now we’re cooking.

Anxiety

Philippians 4:6a Be anxious for nothing; (nasb)

Anxiety exists as if it had a will of its own. It doesn’t but it does have a source. It that part of us that is now covered by the peace of God for we who believe.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Do you pay close attention to your peace? This peace that the Lord speaks about, do you know it? The heart becomes troubled and anxious, perhaps even fearful if the mind has lost touch with His peace.

Peace is the first fruit of the spirit to wither if we are not in agreement with the Holy Spirit. It is easily restored but only if we look to God to restore us to right thinking.

Proverbs 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

The enemy has no weapons against us except lies, deceit and in that is most crafty.

Colossians 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

Even a brother in the Lord who has not paid close attention to keeping the peace of the Lord might be deceived in a small thing. Small things can fester in the back of one’s mind and cause one to be anxious.

1 Timothy 1:4-5 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Now the end of the commandment is charity (love) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Philippians 1:27a-c Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: … that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Peace be unto you……be anxious for nothing.
