Psalm 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Lawlessness occurs not because a law is unjust but rather because law breakers have no regard for it. If you understand the wisdom of laws, then you will believe in adherence. Once again I speak of God’s laws and not those of men.
There is a faction which demands blind obedience. They have no desire for understanding. Understanding controls the heart and leads to obedience to the creator and not the teacher. If I can get you to believe me, to trust me, to obey me, then your heart will never come to an understanding of the truth.
I will never tell you to not read God’s Word for yourselves and come to a knowledge of who Christ is in you. I will relate to you how it works for me, but will never insist that God works in you as He does in me. While we suffer some of the same temptations, fears and faults, the answer for us both is Christ in us, in you and in me.
1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
I recognize this in others as I share the truth and they refute me with words like “My Imam says” or “My teacher says” or “My professor says” rather than “The Word of the Lord in (insert bible address here) says”. It shows that blind obedience is in charge rather than love for His Word.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
The mystery of Christ in us, to be faithful to the love that dwells in us.
Your devotion this morning struck a chord with me. This verse came to mind immediately in Colossians 3:16 (another one of those great 3:16’s) “Let the word of Christ dwell in you RICHLY”. This is the “answer for us both—Christ in you , in us, and in me”.
What a great blessing, dear brother, to have like mindedness–it comes from the solid Rock Word of God. Our pastors and teachers may be used of God to encourage us in our journey with our Lord, but the word of Christ dwelling in us is the guiding light.
May the Lord richly bless you today as you walk with Him.
