Genesis 1:1a In the beginning…
I awoke with a compelling thought this morning, it is Saturday September 13, 2014. Not very earth shattering when you first look at it, but it speaks to something so important that it changed history forever. There was no January 1st, year 0000. Yet we mark all events since that calculated date in observance of everything since. The whole world does it. The whole world agrees, without thinking about the importance perhaps, but yet still they have agreed to use that date.
Dates have always held major significance. Sept. 11, 2001, the day the twin towers came down. Dec. 7, 1941, the day Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Sept. 1, 1938 Hitler invades Poland starting WWI. Oct. 24, 1929 Black Thursday, the crash of Wall Street leading to the Great Depression.
History marks time to a date over 2014 years ago. So significant was the even that history stopped and reset its calendar. Julius Caesar was born in July 100 BC and died March 15th, 44 BC. Did you ever wonder what that date might have been at the time? Obviously BC counts down to zero, but at the time they did not use those dates, history had not yet been rewritten.
What would it take to get the whole world to reset its current calendar? What earth shattering even could possibly happen to cause us to deem all past history to be paled in comparison and start anew? So significant was the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that it changed history itself, resetting the beginning of a new time in history. What would it take to repeat that resetting of time to mark a new era?
Revelation 19:11-16 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
I think that would do it.
