Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
This was a response from my dear friend after yesterday’s post. It is a demonstration of understanding. He “gets it”.
So many things are going on in the world these days and we are beginning to see what others are “made of” because of demonstrations. For some of us it is a wake up call and the things that have been hidden are now being revealed.
I could editorialize right now about prophecies becoming real but that is not something the Lord wants put before His people. These are the times for self-reflection and not anger and bitterness.
How many times do we see ourselves as being stewards?
The idea of stewardship dates back to the tents of Abraham, when he prayed to God that his legacy would not be left to his steward because the son of promise had not been given.
But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”
Not much is said about Eliezer in Genesis this Syrian was not of the house of Abraham but trusted enough by Abraham to be considered as heir.
Genesis 24:2-4 English Standard Version
2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh, 3 that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell, 4 but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
Even after Issac was grown Eliezar was still in charge of all Abraham had and was entrusted with keeping faith with Abraham. The son of promise had already come and it was assigned to the steward of the house to find a bride for the son.
Things have not changed in all these years and as stewards of the Son who has come, we are to find His bride and bring them to Him.
So do we see ourselves as stewards and are we being faithful to what we have sworn to do?
