Proverbs 16:20 English Standard Version (ESV) Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Jesus said there are none good but God. But He is God if we believe His Word.
We read the bible, we do bible studies, we attend Sunday school and listen to our pastors sharing the gospel. What does it mean to give thought to the Word beyond all that?
Perhaps meditating on His Word is different from any of those activities.
Vine’s dictionary has a primary definition of meditate as “to care for” and a secondary meaning of “to attend to”.
I liken those definitions to gardening, as in Adam’s first job was to attend to the garden, which meant to grow healthy foods and to pull weeds.
Our minds have to cultivate a garden of knowledge of His Word. What abides in our hearts is pure but our access is first found in our memory.
Philippians 4:8 English Standard Version (ESV) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Think about it.
Do we understand it? Do we believe it? Do we trust it? Do we use it?
Have we discovered Christ in His Word?
