John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.
Vulnerability by a worldly standard denotes weakness. In war terms it denotes point of attack, both offensively and defensively. In both cases efforts are made to hide those vulnerabilities from exposure. We cloak it.
Luke 14:18a And they all with one consent began to make excuse.
And there is our cloak, we all have one if not many excuses. What are we to do about it? In my case I can tell you I found a place where I can be vulnerable, where I do not have to make excuses, where I can confess what I am and not be judged for it. Why?
Because when I did they all took off their cloaks and said, āIām just like that too.ā
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
There is strength in not being alone. It is more than understanding, compassion, and unburdening. It restores you to a right condition. It brings healing to your brokenness.
You are not alone.
I am just as guilty of trying to “cloak” faults, failures, sin etc. so I can speak from the experience of a normal human being. I am so thankful Jesus said-“I am with you ALWAYS, even unto the end of the age!!” Matthew 28:20, so I am thankfully not alone. I love 1 John 1:7 “if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from ALL sin.” Praise my blessed savior!! Thanks for your great article on being EXPOSED!! My prayer is that all your readers will “keep short accounts” with God first and then with fellow-man.
