2 Chronicles 28:15 And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
So often I find expressions of the grace we should extend to others hidden in the depths of the Old Testament. Here is 2nd Chronicles we find a description that is so Christian. We are after all expressed by His name. We take upon us the title of Christian because we are His. More than what we are called, what we do in the extension of grace identifies us as His.
I am not applying works as a demand. It is expressed grace as a characteristic of who we are in Christ. If grace is in our character, then grace is born of the tree of righteousness and not in the tilling of the ground.
Colossians 1:5-7 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: As ye also learned of Enter Your Name Here our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
I replace the name Epaphras with Enter Your Name Here so that you might see yourselves in the scriptures. This is how we are expressed in scripture. We should see ourselves in scripture. Not for what we hope to be but for who we are in the body of Christ. You did not live in those times but who you are in Christ is expressed in the bible if you will but accept your calling and see the “grace of God in truth”.
