John 1:1-2 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
God the Father sent God the Son to be that firm foundation which supports all life that rest upon Him for all the assurances in God’s promises. Because those assurances can only be performed by God, then Jesus Christ must be God in order to perform them.
We must believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Godhead, the Son of God.
Where will we find this foundational support? In the Word of God.
Hebrews 1:2-4 English Standard Version (ESV)
2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
As God His Word is true and that which He speaks will be done. Since he holds up the universe by the word of His power, support is rendered to those who are in His will and correction is rendered to those outside His will. Note carefully that it was after making purification of sins that He sat down in the position of power and authority. Up until that time, He was an obedient servant.
John 5:30 English Standard Version (ESV) “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.”
Now comes the secret of His support, obedience of faith.
