Leviticus 1:4-5 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord:
Seeking understanding this morning, I searched the Word of the Lord. This was brought before my eyes. I had not a proper understanding of the laying on of hands, in whole. When I thought about the laying on of hands, it had always been in the transfer of blessings. But I found my understanding was incomplete.
Each man would bring his burnt offering before the priest, but in doing so he laid hands on the head of the animal transferring his sins upon the animal. Not only did each man lay hands on the animal, he himself was to kill the animal. This confession of sin is expressed between the man and his sacrifice. The priest has no part in the expression for the individual.
1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
I had always wondered where this expression of guilt of the body and blood came from. Until today I never connected the two together. Today I have understanding.
I stand in awe of this God who is capable of bringing understanding to the mind that is open and willing to listen to whatever the Lord cares to share.
Thank you Lord.
Your topic of “hands” is so special to me. Thank you for the connection of the individual to the sacrifice. I am thrilled to give my personal connection….”behold, I have graven thee on the palms of MY hands.” Isaiah 49:16. I am personally and eternally etched in the palms of His blessed hands with the nail prints of Calvary. Absolutely impossible to separate me from His sacrifice for me. I bow at His feet in worship. Thank you dear brother and thank you Lord Jesus.
That blesses me also. Thank you for this reply. God is good.
