I know nothing

John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Sargent Shultz from Hogan’s Heroes has his signature line; “I know nothing.” He saw things which he didn’t want to see. Believing by faith is almost the opposite. You have faith to believe but we don’t really see do we? We understand because we believe but where does that believe come from?

The Spirit is not subject to us. He does not do our bidding. When He comes and what He does is for our good but is not subject to our wishes or desires. In fact His actions are often in opposition to our fleshly desires.

Have you ever considered that His absence in action is as much a message as His presence in action? We have a responsibility in this relationship to take care of our part. It is a cooperative relationship and if He is silent, then perhaps we should look around and see what it is that we have failed to do for Him and for each other.

Faith in motion is more likely to hear a word than if it were slumbering on the couch.
