Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Yesterday we talked about weather forecasts. Today I would like to relate low pressure systems to sin. Have you watched a low pressure system move across the country? Bands from the storm spread out from the center of the storm and spawn high winds, damaging hail, and tornadoes. None of the damage occurs in the center of the low pressure system.
Look at a hurricane. At the center is dead calm. Nothing gets damaged in the center, calmness exists and blue skies prevail. But you can see the destructive nature of the storm clearly from within. In order for anything not to be caught up in the destruction, one must go along with the center of the low pressure system. Such is the nature of the devil that if you are going along with him in sin, all is calm, but all around you is evidence of the destruction your sin has caused.
Pride says, “It is not me that has caused this.” A haughty spirit admires the destruction and pauses just long enough to become caught up in the destruction itself.
John 10:10a The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
If you are a follower of Satan, you move along with him on his path of destruction. He will not bother you in your sins as long as you do not falter for he cares not for you any more than any of the lives he has destroyed using your sins to do it.
Nothing kills a hurricane faster than a powerful cold front which is the leading edge of a high pressure system. You know high pressure systems. Peace and calm and vast areas of clear blue skies where you can see forever.
Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Restoration of damage can only be done in high pressure systems, not the false calm of the center of lowliness where sin abides.
