Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
The words make haste inspired me today just as the words over time inspired me yesterday.
Who makes haste? Is it those who believe that the end is near and that time is running out? Mind you when I say the end is near, I am not referring to the church age because that is what the followers of Christ are looking forward to during this church age. No, I am referring to unbelievers.
Luke 12:18 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
That casual attitude of taking everything out of life and enjoying it while you can is born of a failure to accept that there is life after death, that this life is all there is to live for.
Taking pleasure where you can and when you can is a selfish endeavor. That kind of living leaves a string of wounded souls in its wake. Even if you are aware of that and you desire to leave a legacy for your children, it still presumes a need to use others in order to provide for your own. That is just another type of selfishness.
Only pride says that you can build a dynasty that will last a thousand years. Do you know of any that have?
If this is true and I believe it is, then what is the opposite of making haste?
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
