Milk

1 Peter 2:2-3 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

The milk of the Word of God is merely the good news, the gospel. Drink it in and allow it to cause you to grow in Christ because it is the language primer of faith. To know it and to learn it with complete understanding, is to open the ears and eyes of understanding by faith.

The correlation between a new born and a newborn is Christ should encourage you in the method of growth in Christ. Mother’s milk is rich in fat causing a healthy baby to grow fast and develop a healthy appetite. As with babies, not all can move on to solid foods at the same rate, they must develop a stomach to digest other nutrients.

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Psalm 34:10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. (NASB)

2 Peter 2:17-18 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

A steadfast diet of His Word promotes growth in Christ.

One thought on “Milk”

  1. I like milk. I have drunk milk all of my life. It is rich in calcium, which builds and maintains strong bones, the structure of our bodies. Even though we grow into eating the “strong meat” of the word of God, I like to keep the “milk of the Word” in my spiritual diet. It keeps my heart connected to my Savior, which is the structure of my Christian life.
    I love your series and progression in it. Thank you, dear brother.
