1 Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
The past few posts I have written have been about one thing. One thing does not say everything about any object. Here Paul is pointing out each of us at any moment within our experience has a point. A psalm, a doctrine, a revelation, and it all has to do with a moment in time. You are not one thing.
When I point to one thing, please do not think that is all there is to be gained about an object, a lesson, an event, or scripture. I present a moment in time, a thought, perhaps common, perhaps not. I do not mean to say this is all there is on the matter. One thing is just that, one thing.
Much of what we relate to one another is best expressed one thing at a time. It is a subject for a moment and is not our entire life. Nor should we be stuck on one subject, observation, or one desire to the point that we wear people out listening to the same thing every time we gather.
If all you knew about me was that I play chess, then only those who love chess would listen. If I only talked about fishing there would be a larger audience but many would be left out of the conversation. We are a people of relationships and if we insist on one thing, one way of seeing a thing, then we are cutting of understanding one another.
I said My Cross reminds me of who I serve. Obviously it means more than that, but at that one moment I presented one thing to think about which said something about me. You can share one thing your cross means to you and in that we get to understand one another better.
It is neither right nor wrong, it is communion. Sharing.
