Psalm 53:1 English Standard Version (ESV) The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.

Our faith key is able to unlock the door to our hearts and allow anyone or anything to enter into our hearts. The faith key does not just open the door to Jesus when He comes to knock. When opportunity knocks we will decide for ourselves who and what to let into our hearts.

How our hearts got corrupted before Christ came to knock on our door is easy to see. Opportunity is a speculation. It may look attractive and still be deadly. Belladonna is pretty but lethal. In truth there are many things which intrigue us. Some do not last. Other things may consume our every thought and become a controlling facet in our lives. Not all controlling things take on the appearance of an addiction.

The destructive nature of addictions are obvious. There is even more danger in those things that are more subtle. Satan tempted Eve with a subtle notion of goodness, to be like God without obedience. To be good without God is just as lethal as any addiction. Goodness without God is pride of life.

There will always be a part of us that screams out that this is unfair. This is not about fairness. Things of the world are capable of keeping us from a loving relationship with God. It does not mean they will, it only means they are capable. Pride of life says “I don’t need God.” Possessions, title, position, power nor authority that is found in the world have any effect on the issues of eternal salvation.
