He Lives

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

I have been reading The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel of late and I have been struggling with the premise of the book itself. I was not sure why because it is a searching book about attitudes and evidence about my favorite subject, Jesus Christ. I have not finished the book as yet, but I have observed something that has not yet been said, they are looking for a dead Christ.

Everything so far and I grant you I am only half way thru the book is like an archeological dig. They are digging into evidence as a case study, in the same way you might reexamine the evidence of a convicted and executed man from the past. It is written as if there is no one who can testify about Christ today, because He is dead.

Jesus Christ is not dead. If He were then I could not have a close personal relationship with Him today. I would hope they get around to that point before the book ends but it does lead to some interesting issues and attitudes about one’s personal exercise in Christianity.

Has Christ revealed Himself to you personally?

To be fair with you, Christ revealed Himself to me so long ago that I have forgotten how it feels to not know Him. I never ponder those thoughts. I am still searching the heights, depths, breadth, and width of Christ. I honestly never considered looking without faith, thru eyes of unbelief or doubt.

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Having seen that it is so hard to look away. Am I wrong?

Only God

Psalm 71:1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.

In Christ I am never confused. Unfortunately my ministry is in the world and as such I have to rely on world systems to connect with those in the world. Wouldn’t it be nice to just receive a Word from the Lord, pray that Word and you receive it? But God doesn’t work that way does He?

We do not all have the same gifts. My gifts, given unto me by God for service to His Kingdom, is to be a voice you can hear if you do not have my gift. If you have my gifts, you might not even need these devotionals. Not all people do and that is fine with me. I am here for those who do not.

That puts us back in the world system of connection via the internet since this is where my ministry is located. A failure in communication can be on my internet connection, which I have had for the past two days, or at your end. We are dependent on world systems.

What we should not do is depend on world systems to be a stumbling block to service. We have options and those options are ours to choose. More importantly, we should not get frustrated when world systems fail. That is what they do. They are not God, they cannot be trusted with the same degree of faithfulness as our Lord and Savior.

I got off the phone with my Internet Service Provider after scheduling yet but another service call. The kind and polite lady left me with that standard line, given to her to say to everyone regardless of the circumstance, problem, solution or emotions. “Thank you for choosing CenturyLink.”

My God has never said that to me. “Thank you for choosing my Son Jesus Christ.”

Why? Because He never hangs up on me.
