Ridicule

Habakkuk 2:6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!

Those who are guilty of it will never understand.

I could stop right there and some would get my meaning. Maybe because they themselves have been victims of ridicule. No amount of explanation will ever penetrate the thickness of the perpetrator. It is a sad truth.

You cannot build yourself up by putting others down. That fact has not presented itself to the cruel heart. This verse when it speaks to thick clay speaks to this issue. The offenders don’t get it. Thick clay does not bake well. It will never be a vessel fit for use, as it bakes unevenly, that part puffs up, misshaped, weak.

1 Corinthians 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

The cruel heart will never get it. No amount of parables, psalms or proverbs will ever penetrate their thickness, their dull minds. It takes a changed heart and only God can fix that.
