Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: (King James Version)
First I would like to admit that I write in the King James Version because it is free of copywrite restrictions and I can use as much of it as I choose without fear of violating copywrite laws. That being said, I also read the KJV for a personal reason. It is an archaic language which was archaic to the public at the time of its release in 1611. This archaic language causes me to seek. I am a seeker, that suits me. It does not suit all people. Some prefer a plain reading.
Were the original documents in English? Of course not, so all translations are the difficult and painstaking work of learned scholars to render a usable version of the bible for common use. Which version in which language is irrelevant to me as this pertains to us, Christian believers. We want to grow closer to God and grow up in Christ, to whatever fullness we are capable of attaining in the time we have left.
Looking at the opening verses of Hebrews it is clear that God does communicate directly with man. God spoke to us thru the prophets. Prophets were men. Now in these times God has chosen to speak to us thru His Son, Jesus Christ. Here once again God is speaking to us. How isn’t clear in these verses but since God is choosing to speak to all of us, language, dialect, and translation cannot and will not hinder our God in His will and purpose.
Tomorrow I will address God speak.
Great start. Great point.
Not only is God now speaking to us by His Son, but in the person of His Son.
“The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…”
