Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Where do I begin? This is the first words in the bible and one would think that this is a good place to begin. I’ve read the bible over and over and I know my God and I will begin at the beginning.
Exodus 3:1-3 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
The beginning was a burning bush moment. In this moment, God revealed Himself to Moses. Moses in response says, “I have to check this out.” The first move was on God’s part but man has a responsibility to react to that moment. The result of that response by Moses is the first five books of the bible.
Exodus 34:27 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
It is by these revealed words of God that we have the beginnings of a written record of all the things necessary to identify, understand, and communicate with God. It is important to note here that this revelation did not come to be written until after Israel had been set free.
It is the same way with us as individuals. God reveals Himself, we seek Him, He sets us free and then and only then are all the mysteries of the Kingdom revealed to us.
