Want It

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

The last few devotionals I expressed my experiences with God. Do you want that? I cannot tell you how to have those experiences or that you ever will. It isn’t up to me. If it were I would grant it to one and all but it isn’t up to me.

God calls you and only He can bring you out. There is nothing you can do to change that. No amount of desire on your part, no wanting changes God’s will for you. Yet it is God who creates in you the pathway to salvation. That is not the same as self-will and self-determination.

Jesus said it is impossible for man to save himself. Neither can I save you. I can however describe to you with feeble words what happened to me. Just as my description in the devotional Words are inadequate to describe being in His presence, what happened to me is not a formula to follow to be saved.

John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

That is between you and God. How He calls you out of the darkness and into the light is going to be personal. He knows best how to touch you. My experience is personal, mine and should not be seen as a formula to follow. As I said in the devotional Honestly Earnestly, it begins with admitting what you are and seeking God earnestly. Yet that is just a beginning, a first step towards God and what He is calling out to you personally.

Living

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Words hold meaning for the living. We can see His glory in life. Grace and truth only hold meaning for the living. Yesterday I said Jesus told me He wanted me to live. I can argue with you what that means, but I would have to use words to give my argument any meaning.

It was in the living that His Word took on meaning. Yes, He is the Word but the Word only took on meaning to us because He lived. The Word only takes on relevance if we live in Christ. We all live in one sense, we were born of water. To live in Christ, for the Word to take on meaning, we must be born in the spirit.

John 3:6-7 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

There is life and then again there is living. If we are dead in our sins, do we truly live? Over time I came to realize Jesus was saying He wanted me to live long enough to come alive. This is the quickening of the Spirit, to be born again, to be alive in Christ.

Romans 6:3-4 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Those who are dead in their sins cannot know a life in Christ.
