Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
There is so much in this Psalm that the placement of the table almost seems out of place, without significant purpose. It is perhaps the most significant placement in this Psalm. It is the purpose behind everything else. That can only be realized if you understand the true meaning of the Greek word agapē which means love feast. Agapē is the word we use to express God’s perfect love, but it is only an expression of endless abundance, and where can you find that endless abundance in order to partake in that love feat? It is found at the banquet table of endless love. We do not eat off the floor.
Revelation 19:7-9 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
