Here and Now

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

If I asked most people if they would like to have this in the here and now, then I would expect a resounding yes. Living this life we lead in the here and no is painful. It comes with the territory. The only way to escape all the sorrows, tears, fears, anxieties, dangers, disease, and injustice is when all those things pass away. That means leaving the here and now for that promise which can only be accomplished in paradise with our Lord.

Aside from doing the unthinkable, how do you deal with all that? The majority of people who complain about the ugly things of this world only want it to stop. Having been someone who has lived with loved one suffering, I know how great a motivator pain can be in life. Both physical and emotional pain are devastating. I get it, but answer me this, what does it do to you spiritually?

Ephesians 6:18-20 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Failing to spiritually persevere cuts off your ability to present your supplications and prayers in the Spirit. It is in the Spirit that God responds and the devil knows that. These words follow those instructions about putting on the whole armor of God with good reason.

Do not allow pain and suffering to steal your power to be heard in the Spirit.

Intractable

Jeremiah 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

James 1:17 (ESV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

If you would please allow me to tie these two verses together via the word profit in the first and good and perfect gifts in the second. The second connector within those passages is change.

In Jeremiah 2:11 the people changed, in James 1:17 God does not change, He is intractable. In order to demonstrate these two connections and how they relate to us and to God, allow me to quote one more piece of scripture.

Psalm 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

The shadow of His wings are intractable. They move not, nor does the shadow move. We however do move and come out from under His protective covering and expose ourselves to danger. To understand that all you have to do is follow up Psalm17:8 with the next verse; “From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.”

Jeremiah 2:11 expresses it as changing glory. Under cover we can see things of this world and when we chase after them, we leave the shadow of His wing and expose ourselves to the light of truth.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Jesus, the Light of the world does not move but His light shines on everything. When we come out from under God’s covering wing, we are seen for what we seek which is not God’s glory.

What are you seeking? Are you running to and fro?
