Holy

1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Allow me to confess I got this wrong. My understanding of Holy was wrong. I always thought that being holy was about being good. It is not. Try as I might I could never be good enough to even consider myself to be even a little bit holy. I would sin, confess, repent and turn to search for how to be holy. Repentance and forgiveness do not equal holiness.

Then I saw it in the first use of the word holy.

Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Holy is a place where Satan is not allowed.

God prepared a place and invited Moses to join Him in a conversation, away from the influences of the liar. It is seen in the putting off of the shoes here. The shoes have touched the ground, the dust, the realm of the prince of the power of the air. It is leaving Satan behind and stepping into a place prepared by God where Satan is not allowed.

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

When I read this my first instinct is that of the flesh, a mansion in the sky. That was the flesh but now the spirit has said “You are that temple.”

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Ye are not your own indicates a place of God’s making, a sanctuary, a holy place where Satan is not allowed.

It is not in our minds. He dwells in our hearts.

Questions

Genesis 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Notice carefully here that God did not ask Adam why he had disobeyed. God asks Adam who told you. Was God asking Adam about eating the fruit or listening to the liar? The accusation of the disobedience came after the question of the conversations that came before the act.

Whose voice do we hear?

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Here is one interesting point which we might overlook. Jesus said “I know them”. This not only indicates relationship but also implies that He does not lead someone else’s sheep. The issue here is clear, that in order to recognize His voice, you must first become one of His.

1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

This warning from John is to believers. This means we can hear that spirit of antichrist. It is speaking against Christ. This is the meaning of anti, against. It opposes the Word of God.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Satan knew us in the flesh long before we came to Christ and Satan uses every advantage in the flesh to bring lying controversies to our minds. He opposes the Spirit at every turn. Now I would like to share with you the secret in how to still Satan’s voice where you cannot even hear him.

Leviticus 11:44a,b For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy:
