Adam Ate

Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Eve ate and then Adam ate.

Was Adam there to hear the serpent speak to Eve? Did Adam eat right away? What was Adam thinking at that moment before he ate? Did Eve take the fruit to her husband and then eat without telling him where she got it? Was there anything special about the appearance of the fruit so that Adam would know the source of the fruit? Did Adam believe the lie?

All these questions and more are not addressed in the bible. Adam ate. That is all we know. If we ask all these questions and insist on knowing the why of it, are we seeking God’s message to us or looking to satisfy our own curiosity? What makes us want to know the why of it all?

Allow me to take you back to yesterday’s blog and point out on important factor. We were born into the realm of the prince of the power of the air. We were born into dust and where we landed held sway over our life experiences and influences until that day we came to discover Jesus and invite Him into our hearts.

The need to know why came as a part of Satan’s realm. It is that lie Satan tells each of us. You have to know why before you can trust God.

Here is what the bible says about this event. God said don’t eat. Adam ate. Their eyes were opened. They saw what it looked like to be disobedient. No one knows what it feels like to lose our innocence until we lose it.

Satan

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Genesis 3:14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

This is Satan in a nutshell. Now let us crack it and see him for what he is in truth. A liar.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

We are all born into his realm and in that realm he has done nothing but speaks lies to serve his own end. What is his goal here? Is it to disobey God? If Satan had his way none of us would know there is a God. So what was his immediate goal?

Satan lied to Eve to challenge her understanding of God’s instruction. The lie and the promise attached to the lie were meant to have Eve believe Satan and do what Satan wanted her to do. We can only see the results of the events to understand why Satan came to Eve rather than Adam.

Eve ate and nothing changed. Since Eve ate and she did not die, then God must have lied and He isn’t trustworthy. That was Satan’s lie to gain a believer to serve him. Once Eve saw there was no change, she gave Adam to eat. She spread the lie.
