No Difference

Job 1:22 English Standard Version (ESV) In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.

Continuing with the issue of dominion here let me ask this question. Is there any difference between blaming God for our present condition and not believing there is a God?

Not to God there isn’t. The only thing that matters is what we do with the dominion He gave us. We came to a point where we realized we had allowed sin to rule in our lives and ruined us. Then we came to Christ and made Him the Lord of our life, we are now His dominion, His Kingdom.

What is the difference between not believing in Christ and not obeying Christ?

There is no difference to Christ.

His dominion on the other hand does not fail for He takes all things into His hands and rules justly. Being subject to His rule we witness the results of our failure in obedience of faith. His dominion, His Kingdom, languishes.

Mercy and grace keep us in the game but we should want to be obedient, we should want to be cooperative in furthering His Kingdom. We should understand the consequences of ignoring duty. The whole world suffers.

Isaiah 24:1 English Standard Version (ESV) Behold, the Lord will empty the earth and make it desolate, and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.

Consequences will happen and it will happen. What part we play in all this will have eternal effects and we shall only see what our disobedience costs after these days end, and they will end.

Isaiah 24:20-21 English Standard Version (ESV)

20 The earth staggers like a drunken man; it sways like a hut; its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again. 21 On that day the Lord will punish the host of heaven, in heaven, and the kings of the earth, on the earth.

Obedience of faith does make a difference.

We Forgot

Isaiah 24:5 English Standard Version (ESV) The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.

We forgot that the earth was cursed because we sinned. That doesn’t seem fair to a land that did nothing but give us a place to live. But it did not give us anything, God provided and we were given dominion and what happens to the earth is the result of our not keeping covenant.

Genesis 3:17-19 English Standard Version (ESV)

17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree
of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

The covenant of dominion did not end, our responsibility for where we live did not end. Look what we have done to it. We have used and abused our planet in the name of dominion without care for it. The word dominion is a word of responsibility. It means to rule but what is a ruler who does not take care of his dominion? He is a destroyer, a waste of time, talent and resources.

We forgot that what God gives, He will take away if we do not keep covenant.

Job 1:20-22 English Standard Version (ESV)

20 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” 22 In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.
