Chosen Ones

Psalm 65:4 English Standard Version (ESV) Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!

Over the past few months choices have been made and we can only hope that love leads the way. We have to deal with many things in life and what we choose to do in response to circumstances can and does have lasting effects. They may impact many people and if love is at the forefront then those choices will be easier to accept.

While ponding the choices that love makes this verse came to the forefront. God has chosen us and we are blessed in so many ways. While we have not yet moved into that eternal realm it does not mean we are not in His presence now. The indwelling presence of our God is real and we are His temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 English Standard Version (ESV) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

The abiding presence of the Holy Spirit is God and He has drawn near to us in a way that was never possible before. Living by faith is only possible because we have placed our faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

We have years of experience in making wrong choices and suffering the consequences. We surrendered to Christ to change that and He has changed that. We need to be satisfied with those changes, the goodness of this abode is not conditional to the previous owner, us. The goodness is because of who He is in us.

Glorifying God in our bodies is about His outshining our humanity.

Let His light shine.

Example

One line of scripture does not explain everything.

This is the last line of yesterday’s blog. Rather than seek answers about things we do not understand, allow this be an example of how a better understanding could be made for things we already appreciate. We might even think we know something, but haven’t pondered it in some time.

This was once my favorite scripture. They change as I change, but now I revisit an oldie but goodie.

Psalm 17:15 King James Version (KJV) As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

At one time this verse held great comfort for me because of who I was and where I was in my walk with Christ. I connected the thought of this verse with another.

1 Corinthians 13:12 King James Version (KJV) For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

My understanding was glass with Jesus on the other side. My self-effort only cleared up my reflection as I could only clean up my side of the window trying to see Jesus. No matter how much I tried cleaning it, I could only see myself better. It was a wakeup call to do better.

On the other side of the window Jesus would clean up His side and then thru His effort, I could see Him better. I had no control over what I could see of Jesus. That was His to reveal. At some point I realized I could not make His image improve by cleaning my side of the window.

If I did not clean my side of the window, it not only clouded (made darker) His image, I could no longer see myself clearly.

Today I see that His righteousness in me cleans both sides.

Revisit old favorites and see what the Lord has to reveal.
