Genesis 3:9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
I have said previously that error comes from not seeing God for who He is in totality of those five foundational truths. So this is my first attempt in demonstrating what that looks like.
A man said, “God didn’t know Adam was going to sin.”
This is error but how does this compare to those five foundational truths about God. I can see the error in this man’s failure to see God is truth, always. When he said God did not know Adam was going to sin, he is actually accusing God of tempting Adam.
James 1:13-14 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
The issue placed before Adam was choice, free will, to choose to obey God or not. The issue for us in this telling is not to question God but rather to see how sin acts.
When God asked Adam “Where art thou?”; God knew where Adam was but in asking caused Adam to examine himself and be honest with himself about the fact Adam was hiding his countenance from God. Adam’s response tells us that.
Genesis 3:10 And he (Adam) said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Adam evaluates his condition. The next question is not an accusation so much as seeking a confession from Adam.
Genesis 3:11-12 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Here we see how sin reacts, to avoid confession and blame anyone and everyone else.
