Romans 16:25-27 (ESV) Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith—to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Before we get into the basics of obeying faith, allow me to break these verses into three part. Everything prior to obedience of faith is the first part, and everything after obedience of faith is the third part.
God set into motion everything prior to obedience of faith to bring it about with order and understanding. Obedience of faith is not a blind gesture wrapped in personal understanding of the scriptures.
The only purpose in obedience of faith is glory to God, there is nothing personal to be gained in obedience of faith. We need to be clear on that matter because motivation in obedience is everything.
The mystery which was long held secret and still denied by all outside Christendom is the indwelling of God Himself in each and every believer. If you believe by faith in Jesus Christ then the Holy Spirit is given to guide you in all truth. Glorifying God can only be accomplish through Jesus Christ and without Him God the Father cannot be glorified.
The basic principle of obedience of faith can be found in Abraham, the father of our faith. First he heard God, second he believed God and thirdly he obeyed God.
Learning the doctrines of your church and adhering to the tenets of that administration is not obedience of faith. It is obedience to the Word, it is being a disciple, and it is bonding and fellowship and everything upon which a church body depends, but it is not obedience of faith.
“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.” Corrie ten Boom
One thing I learned from Corrie was K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid). She worked with many children having learning disabilities. Sharing Jesus is not a complicated issue.
“Motivation in obedience is everything.” There’s a tremendous truth!
Couldn’t make it more simple than listen, believe, obey.
