Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
In the Old Testament economy God spoke to prophets and those prophets spoke to us. Some of them left a treasure troth of words. All of it was designed to point to the life and times of Jesus Christ, by whom God talks to the masses. The fear and trembling of Exodus was calmed by seeing God in the person of His Son Jesus Christ.
God speaks to us through His Son Jesus Christ and faith is the vehicle of delivery. Those words spoken by the Son to us are delivered by the third person of God, the Holy Spirit. As I said yesterday, this is a spiritual experience, and in order to hear the spirit, our dead spirit must be brought to a newness of life. Our spirit must be quickened.
Psalm 119:25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Perhaps the most import truth in these verses is this issue of being quickened together with Christ. The issues of the indwelling Christ is vital to the process of faith. That faith emanates from He who is faithful because He dwells in your heart.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Jesus is the Word and He abides in your heart by faith, so faith comes by hearing Him from your heart.
