Impatience

Habakkuk 2:2-3 English Standard Version

The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith

And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Have we ever planned something with the intent of obedience of faith? We hear God, we believe God, we move to do God’s bidding and the world rebels at our effort? Worldly people are rebellious people and oppose God’s plans. They neither believe nor obey and when they see us moving to obey God, they do things which hinder our efforts.

That should not be a reason to doubt God.

Often the rebellious nature of worldly people can create impatience in us because we are human and we want to get on with obeying God. Any delay in forward progress can cause impatience to increase in us without just cause. We should expect the world to resist us. If we are truly following God’s instructions, it is to be expected. If we cannot calm ourselves at the first obstacle, impatience grows and even when that first obstacle is removed, the impatience remains.

We must not allow impatience to be an obstacle in believing God and moving forward in faith.

May this word of the Lord help us all believe, trust, and be patient.

Habakkuk wrote in 2:2 so he may run who reads it.
