Exodus 33:7-11 English Standard Version
The Tent of Meeting
7 Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. 8 Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise up, and each would stand at his tent door, and watch Moses until he had gone into the tent. 9 When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. 10 And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, each at his tent door. 11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.
Are there signs here to be read and understood?
The answer is sure there are but what does that have to do with anyone here?
When the Lord gives a sign it is deliberate and has purpose. What that means to the individual who reads those signs is totally dependent on God’s purpose for that individual who is seeing the signs. God is the author and finisher of our faith, not this writer.
Anyone can say what they see but that only means something to them. It might be a teaching moment for a teacher. It might be a movement to create unity in a congregation when shown to a pastor. It might be historical or personal. How it reaches us on a personal level should be by faith.
Wisdom within those that are gifted by God tells them how to apply the signs to their specific responsibilities in serving God and glorifying Him.
Why did I choose these passages? A friend posted an edited quote to Exodus 33:14. I found it curious and went to Exodus 33 to discover what the context was relating to his edited quote.
I have questions. The Lord has answers.
Those questions are mine. I don’t have a right to place my questions before others without first going to the Lord for answers.
This leads me to ask this question; are signs necessary to discover the right path?
