Tested

Deuteronomy 13:3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

We have been talking about teachers and students so it is only natural to consider how it feels to take important tests. School is one thing, spiritual testing is another.

I’ve considered what it means to live with only having the Pentateuch as books for learning.

BlueLetterBible Biblical Outline for Sadducees = “the righteous”

A religious party at the time of Christ among the Jews, who denied that the oral law was a revelation of God to the Israelites, and who deemed the written law alone to be obligatory on the nation, as the divine authority. They denied the following doctrines:

  resurrection of the body

  immortality of the soul

  existence of spirits and angels

  divine predestination, affirmed free will

Some of these men were found in the Sanhedrin  which means simply “court of justice,” in most cases it is used to designate the supreme Jewish Court of Justice in Jerusalem. Source International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia

Imagine being tested for studying and believing only the Pentateuch.

Matthew 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

Taking a weighted test scores correct answers for important questions higher than incorrect answers for less significant questions. I would offer up this opinion, that the law of love is more important than Mosaic Law.

But I am neither a teacher nor an examiner. I am one tested.

Might I also add, I have not been stoned to death. (YET)
