Genesis 3:2-3 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Let me be clear on this, scriptures do not say how Eve got her instructions. We only know that Adam was told not to eat, God did not say do not touch. Eve’s conversation with Satan is also an error but not one she would have recognized as instructions in how to deal with Satan came to us much later. She can be considered innocent in that conversation.
It is not accurate that God said do not touch. This is a lie and lies are Satan’s stronghold. I am sure there are a number of people that would consider this no biggie as far as lies go. How big a lie is not the point, giving Satan a foothold is the point.
Jesus showed us in His wilderness temptations how to deal with Satan, by accurate and appropriate scripture. Personally I find it better not to engage in any conversation with Satan, but one has to recognize Satan in order to ignore him. As many people do not believe in Satan as do not believe in God, maybe more.
My point is that an accurate understanding of scriptures is our best defense against our enemy, Satan.
At the beginning of this I said a man believed God did not know Adam was going to sin. Did that man know it was a lie? Probably no more than he knew the source, Satan. Satan can put lying thoughts into your head and if you do not know Truth, what sounds good sits down and takes a place where it has no business, in your mind.
