The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Is this God’s first sign? It is verse 3 and not necessarily the first thing created. The first thing created in Genesis was a void. Voids cannot be seen, so in that sense not a sign to be seen,
And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,
Now here in verse 14 we see the word sign is first used. If the light in verse 3 is not a sign and the stars in the heavens are the first signs, what is the light in verse 3 if not a star?
This is the essence of God’s signs. They are meant to create a question in our minds as to the meaning behind the sign and who made the sign.
And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.”
That sign led to a relationship between Moses and God that resulted in Moses writing the first five books of the bible.
Which sign is greater, Moses leading Israel out of Egypt or his writing the Pentateuch? The Hebrew name for them is the Torah.
We would not have these books if it had not been for God sending a sign.
Now comes the most significant issue of signs. What sign did God send to you that led you to this relationship with Him?
